Paint Your Own Delft Blue Tile in Amsterdam

No experience needed. Our passionate hosts guide you through the full process step by step, and they're always on hand to help whenever you'd like a tip or a second pair of eyes.

The workshop runs for around 90 minutes, which is plenty of time for most designs. If you have something especially detailed or intricate in mind, please keep that in mind when choosing your design — more complex pieces can take a little longer.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled start time. If you arrive significantly late and we feel it would disrupt the workshop already in progress, we may not be able to accept you into the session.

Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance are eligible for a refund. Rescheduling is also possible — please contact our office directly so we can find a new time that works for you.

Strollers are welcome in the studio. For wheelchair users, we have a dedicated table by the entrance and a separate accessible bathroom. Please note there is one step at the entrance to the workshop space, so we recommend reaching out in advance so we can make sure your visit goes smoothly.

All workshops are hosted in English.

We don't offer shipping. If you don't quite finish your tile during the session, no problem — you can take it home with you and complete the painting in your own time before baking it to cure the paint.

No problem at all. We sell our paints at the workshop so you can take everything home and finish your tile at your own pace. We use a custom Delft Blue created exclusively for us through our partnership with Marabu — a shade you won't find anywhere else — so your finished piece will stay perfectly true to the original.

For private bookings we have a minimum of 10 people. If your group is smaller, we still ask that you book for 10 guests so we can reserve the studio exclusively for you.

Kids are very welcome, as long as they are supervised by a parent or guardian throughout the workshop. A few practical notes:

• We offer paint markers as a child-friendly alternative to brushes.
• We don't have a baby chair, so children need to be able to sit on a regular chair on their own.

Traditional Delft tiles are decorative pieces and should never be used as a surface for eating or food preparation.

They are also not dishwasher-safe — the intense heat, high water pressure, and harsh detergents can crack the glaze, strip the hand-painted details, and chip the edges. Treat your tile gently: it's a piece of art.

Drying time is around 3 days, but by the end of the workshop the paint will be dry enough for us to safely pack your tile in one of our signature take-home boxes.

After a minimum of 3 days of drying, bake the tile for 30 minutes at 160 °C / 320 °F to cure the paint.

Our paints are water-based and low odour. They may contain acrylics, pigments, and preservatives that can irritate sensitive skin or respiratory conditions, so please let our staff know in advance if you have any specific sensitivities and we'll do our best to accommodate.
